:::On Camera:::
The camera fumbles. The scene it tries to focus on is unclear because the camera is still unstable. There are some mumbling curse words as it appears someone tries to adjust the camera.
“Oh Bollocks!”
The the camera stops moving.
“Alright.”
The focus is now on a room. The walls are bare brick with exposed metal ducts. There are several unopened boxes. He sits down to show that the man behind the voice is RJ Driscoll.
“Well now, that was a bit of a mess but it's sorted now eh? Well this is just me taking some time out to talk about my match. I gotta be honest, I don't know much about the bloke I'm facing but I do know we got a bit in common. We both grew up without a dad around. My Dad fucked off when I didn'teven show up on a pee stick and well my mum just never thought to tell him. So seventeen years later, here I am flying to America to meet and get to know him. He's a good guy my dad. Decent. But he did say he woulda made a rotten father so I was better off growing up without him. But he wasn't a wrestler. He’s a writer. Jonathan Anderson. You mighta heard of him. He writes mystery-slash-science fiction stuff. I tried to read one and I just couldn’t get into it. But my Dad's a good sport about it.”
He realizes he was rambling and clears his throat awkwardly.
“So this match. Well I'm hoping that it has a better outcome than my debut in Apex but the pressure was a little high, it being for a title and all. I like the pace here in the grounds. Earning my shot and moving up a little more slowly.”
He takes a deep breath.
“So to the guy I'm facing, well good luck mate. I know that this is a matter of who can out maneuver the other. We seem to be pretty evenly matched so I know that ours will be a match people will take interest in, at least one would hope. So while you say I better be ready for a fight, I know that it's not going to be some easy win. I appreciate that mate. Looking forward to it and ummm... all that... yeah...”
He nods, seemingly lost his confidence he started with and abruptly shuts off the camera.
