The hot California sun beams down on the black tarmac road of the little town street, the colorful awnings of the shops give a summer feel to the springtime afternoon as a few people walk in and out of the stores. Sitting outside a vintage styled ice-cream shoppe is a little boy, wearing his favorite ice-cream cone hat, clutched in his little hands is a quickly melting chocolate cone, he laps at the treat as quickly as he can, trying to balance it in his small grip. After a few licks, without warning the ice-cream suddenly slips from the cone and hits the hot tarmac just off the curb where he sits. His lip begins to tremble as he watches his treat trickle away across the hot road.
Before his tears can start to fall though, a hand offers him a fresh scoop, this time the ice-cream is in one of those little plastic bowls, with the cone stuck in the top and a bright blue plastic spoon sticking out of the side so he can enjoy his treat more easily. He looks up to Thank what he assumes will be his parents, a confused expression crosses the boy's face as he looks up into the smiling face of Eliza Valentine, who nods at him, handing him the fresh ice-cream.
She parts her lips to say something, but before any words can come out her attention is pulled away from the boy; the boy’s father, Aiden Morrow, steps in between them with an alarmed expression on his face.
Aiden Morrow: Eliza? What the hell are you doing here? This isn't Proving Grounds, so i’d suggest you wait until then for the next time I see you.
Eliza frowns slightly and shakes her head, taking a step back she holds her hands up in an innocent way.
Eliza Valentine: Chill… I'm just stepping up where you fail is all Aiden, I mean sure… Today it was a dropped ice-cream, nothing important right? Not to you anyway….
She nods at his son sitting behind him who is now happily enjoying the ice-cream she handed him.
Eliza Valentine: But it mattered to him… And where were you? Nowhere….
He scoffs and shakes his head before he steps up closer to her face while trying to keep his tone low so AJ doesn't hear him.
Aiden Morrow: I’m right here, like I've always been for my son. Quit pretending that you know who I am as a parent and quit stalking me and my family. I suggest you leave. Now.
She laughs and steps up to him in response, her face in his as she raises her voice a little.
Eliza Valentine: What? I just wanted to meet the kid I'm going to be apologizing to for the next few months when his Daddy has to go away…
She pouts at him in a mocking way and tilts her head.
Eliza Valentine: How will Sofie explain you being laid up in a hospital bed for the next few weeks anyway?
Aiden grabs Eliza by her arm and pulls her away from where AJ is sitting and he begins to lose his cool, clearing looking heated.
Aiden Morrow: You don't get to talk to my son or my fiancée. This is between you and me and you're crossing all kinds of lines. Continue to do so and I won't hesitate to hurt you. I won't let ANYONE fuck with my family.
He finishes talking, his hand still gripped firmly on her arm. She pulls her arm free from his grasp and gets right up in his face again, her voice a low whispered growl as a twisted sneer rests in her lips.
Eliza Valentine: You think you can protect them? Is that it? Are you that fucking dense Aiden? You think all of this isn't going to hurt them, you really believe you're going to be there for them every, single, time?
She laughs in his face and shakes her head, pushing him away from her with both her hands to his chest she throws her arms out.
Eliza Valentine: Take a look around, did anyone stop me? Did anyone question me walking up to your son? NO… You can't protect them, not from what you have chosen for them… You want to be in this life then you are all fucking in.. No excuses.
She moved back close to him and tilts her head up to look dead in his eyes.
Eliza Valentine: You want to be a Champion Aiden?
He surprisingly lets out a laugh as he steps up into her face and grins.
Aiden Morrow: I do want to be champ but I'm not looking that far ahead. Right now, all I'm worried about is you. You're my focus and my main goal after you pulled this shit. I'm taking you out, Eliza.
He lets out a light laugh and shakes his head,
Aiden Morrow: I’d say something along the lines of how your family are going to be sad and disappointed in you… But it turns out that nobody gives a damn about you.
He takes both of his hands and shoves her back.
Aiden Morrow: Get the hell out of here.
Eliza chuckles as she looks down and dusts off her shirt, lifting her head slowly she looks him dead in the eyes.
Eliza Valentine: You should focus on me Aiden, you have no idea what exactly you are going up against… You represent everything I hate, everything I despise… And if it takes every last fiber of my being you will end your time in that ring flat on your back with me standing over you.
She steps back up to him with a sneer.
Eliza Valentine: And as for family… I honestly don't give a fuck about family.
She reaches up and grabs him by the jaw, forcing his face to look down at hers as she laughs.
Eliza Valentine: And when I'm done, yours won't about you either.
She releases him with a shove and turns on her heels, walking away from him with a light laugh and a shake of her head. Aiden scoffs and shakes his his before turning around and focusing his attention back on his son, AJ.
