Name: Ryan Callaghan Nicknames(s): Ry, The Pride of South Boston Twitter Handle: @CallaghanRyan_ Age: 25 Height: 6'5" Weight: 250 lbs Hometown/Billed from: South Boston, Massachusetts Alignment: Heel |
Character Biography: Growing up, Ryan was into boxing, despite his dad, Nathan, being a wrestler. Ryan's biggest boxing hero growing up was Micky Ward, a Boston boxing legend. Ryan even had Micky's poster up on his wall and he was basically obsessed with the boxer. While Ryan dabbled in wrestling growing up due to his dad's influence, his main focus was boxing. Eventually, Ryan would receive some training from Dicky Eckland and even Mick Ward, who now owns and operates his own boxing gym in Lowell, Massachusetts. Ryan became so good, he would go on to win New England Golden Glove award one time. He became a big name in the boxing scene in Boston but he started to get into trouble by gambling and selling hard drugs to try and make ends meet after his mother died to an apparent suicide. Once Ryan's mom died, his dad Nathan gave up on everything and became a drunk. He got caught for the hard drugs and the house he lived in with his dad, Nathan, and his brothers, Liam and Sean, was raided. Ryan was the only one that was arrested because everyone else had anything to do with it. This has caused Ryan to be estranged with his family somewhat and he was sent away to prison for almost two years. Nobody in his family kept in contact with him during this time due to them all being upset. This prison sentence all but sealed the deal on Ryan's boxing career. He ended up in a high level prison called Cedar Junction that is located in Norfolk, Massachusetts. It's not common knowledge of what happened to Ryan while in prison for two years. The only person he's told about his experience is his girlfriend, Aoife Rosa Byrne. (**DISCLAIMER** THIS NEXT INFORMATION IS NOT COMMON KNOWLEDGE YET) While in prison, one of the guards recognized Ryan from his boxing days as the "Pride of South Boston". This was bad news for Ryan because Cedar Junction was running illegal fights. They had a special section of the prison for a fighting ring and for people to sit down and view. All of the guards were in on this and so was the prison warden. Not only would the guards and warden make bets on the prisoner fighters, but so would the wealthy friends of the warden, who he would invite to the prison to take in the events. Ryan, of course, wanted no part of it. He believed fighting for the prison would basically make him their puppet and slave and he didn't fight for anyone but himself. Eventually the guards "found" coke in his cell, which they actually planted. Ryan had no other choice but to fight or else his sentence would have been extended. So to avoid being set up, Ryan fought for over two years, winning the majority of his bouts and keeping on good behavior. Ryan's abilities were far too lucrative for the warden to just let him go and the warden had plans to extend Ryan's stay there but the prison warden was mysteriously murdered at his home. This brought in a new warden and the prison fights were no longer a thing. The new warden saw Ryan's clean record while incarcerated and let him out on early parole due to his good behavior. ((**IT'S COMMON KNOWLEDGE AGAIN**)) Ryan is now trying to break it into the wrestling business like his brothers Sean and Liam have. While he's not as skilled as they are in wrestling, he's a much more polished fighter and he's also much better at keeping his body in shape through his boxing training. Ryan sees Proving Grounds as his place to do exactly what the name in the company says... Prove his ground. |
On Camera Personality: He's cocky, brash and isn't afraid to speak his mind. He's your typical Irish-American from South Boston. He's vulgar and loves to fight. He'll fight for the ones he loves, otherwise he doesn't give a shit about anyone else, including the fans. He's not as nice as his brothers Liam and Sean are.
